Hip Hop Beat Maker – Finding The Best

Let me dissapoint you in the beginning – there’s no the best hip hop beat maker. There is only beat maker software that can work the best for you as individual. In today’s era of aggressive marketing it is very hard to know which products are actually worth. And often, the best software program doesn’t get exposure it should.

As a new hip hop beat maker, you can easily be caught in network of greedy marketers that will sell anything for commission. You’re interested in making hip hop beats, you type the search term in Google and you get bombarded with a number of “positive reviews”, recommendations from people that don’t even know how to import the sound in beat machine, you get tempted with low price, etc…

You wanna buy hip hop beat making software and you end up with more like an mp3 player rather than serious music production tool.

I’ll share some of my tracks with you through the website so you can see I’m talking from expirience and not from Google. I work with tools that I write about.

I like abstract music, where you can be creative…

Know Your Hip Hop Beat Maker Software

I’ll ask you one thing: Are you serious in making hip hop beats? In being a hip hop beat maker? If you answer is yes, then you shouldn’t fall for just any kind of drum beat maker. For example, when I first started in music production I got myself Reason 1.0. I had no idea how to get the sound in it for five days! There wasn’t ‘one click programs’ that make the track by itself, and YouTube wasn’t so helpfull those days… But my passion about beat making helped me BIG TIME in discovering all the features available in it. I’ve spend countless hours in front of the screen figuring out what this button does, and what that one does.

I knew it’s going to help me in my future hip hop beat maker career!

The point is, being succesfull hip hop beat maker is all about passion and knowledge. Since then, I made God knows how many hip hop beats, tracks and instrumentals. Some more, and some less succesfull. But I am proud to say today that I know every single corner in that program, as well as many others. Do you think it is irrelevant? I don’t.

By this day, I consider Reason by far the best hip hop beat maker for me. Having the knowledge about the functions it offers made possible for me to understand even the most complex music production softwares, and hardwares.

Music production industry evolved alot, and you almost feel like you don’t have to know nothing about sound and beat creation, right? Well, wrong again. You DO need to know, more is better. If you stuck at any point who’s going to help you solve the problem? Do you want to be an expert hip hop beat maker, or yet another hyperproductive so-called producer, or working on online beat maker apps?

Hip Hop Beat Maker With Soul

Adding your personality in your beats is crucial. You’ve heard those advices on picking your favorite artist and do what he does. Well, I don’t agree with that. You are copying not only the track, but the identity itself. While it is more than recommended to follow the guidelines of creating a good sound, it is absolutely essential to create your own style in music. When I’m doing the track I don’t listen to any relevant music at that time. Some might find it radical approach, but it worked very well for me when defining my style of production.

Copying others won’t get you far as hip hop beat maker, trust me. People like to hear original, recognizable songs and you can only get credit for those. Loops and softwares with half finished sounds aren’t having nothing of yours in it. Thousands of wannabe producers are using them. What you need is a huge pack of quality single shots that can be edited in your way, anything beside that is a waste of time. If you don’t believe me, try it yourself and ask for a critic in reputable forums or other sources. Don’t be surprised if you hear something like “i know that beat” …

Original creation is way more valuable.

Btw, your friends and family aren’t a good source to hear an honest opinion about your music. In 99% you will hear things like “it’s great”, “nice work”, “i love it”, and so on… A good critic is when other hip hop beat maker tells you that you need to add more punch in the kick drum, expand the overall sound, equalize the certain frequencies, decrease compression, etc…

Picking a wrong beat making software can be a real pain… Importing finished loop and click play is not a music production. Not having the ability to control every single sound will keep you far away of becoming a reputable hip hop beat maker.
